Group Scout Leader, Conor Chisholm said “The 97th was struggling to recruit enough adult volunteers to function as a standalone group it made sense for both groups to come together share skills and experiences and create a strong group that can give the young people of Port Glasgow an excellent Scouting experience. I would like to thank all the leaders from both groups for there support and willingness over the past 12 months that has allowed us to get to the stage and I know they are all extremely excited to get back to face to face scouting in August”.
District Commissioner, Martin Bucan said “I am delighted to see scouting return to lower Port Glasgow. It is so important for our young people to have a local group. The opportunities, fun, skills, and preparation for life are some of the important aspects of scouting.
Scouting has very much adheres to covid guidelines and Greenock and District Scout groups have been working hard to maintain excellent programs. I thank the 47th Scout group’s group leader Conor for taking on this project and all the leaders concerned.”
We look forward to continuing to group Scouting in Port Glasgow and offer young people a chance to challenge themselves, meet new friends, learn team skills, responsibility and initiative whilst developing skills for life and gaining life experiences through new experiences.
